Law firm lead generation that brings in the right enquiries

Most law firms don’t need more enquiries. They need more of the right ones: the matters they want, from the places they serve, from people ready to speak to a lawyer. Lead generation for lawyers is how we get them to you.

Black Shark Digital generates leads for Australian law firms in two ways: campaigns run in your firm’s own ad accounts, or, for certain legal areas in certain regions, leads you can simply buy. Either way, the work is run by Andrej Mchantaf, a lawyer turned marketer with 20 years’ experience, from our base in Manly NSW. We keep our client list small on purpose, with a maximum of five law firms at any one time, and right now we have 4 client spots left.

Two ways we generate leads for law firms

Campaigns run in your firm’s own accounts

We plan, build and manage campaigns across the channels that suit your practice areas, and every enquiry comes straight to your firm. Your ad accounts are yours outright, you pay the platforms directly on your own credit card, and there is no markup on ad spend. If you ever leave, you keep the accounts with all their history and data.

Buying legal leads

Are you interested in just buying legal leads? We can provide them for certain legal areas in certain regions. Ask us which areas and regions are available: tell us your practice areas and where you want clients, and we’ll tell you whether we can help and what it would cost.

The channels we use

Google Search

People searching for a lawyer for their matter have the highest intent of all. We are certified experts for Google Search Ads, and we run search campaigns split by practice area and location, with every call and form tracked. Read more about Google Ads for lawyers.

Facebook and Instagram

Social ads reach people before they search, and can bring back people who visited your site but didn’t enquire. They suit some practice areas better than others, and we’ll tell you honestly whether they suit yours.

YouTube and Microsoft (Bing) Ads

Video builds trust before the first call, and Microsoft Ads reaches searchers that Google doesn’t. We add them where they suit the firm and budget.

Organic search

Leads you don’t pay for per click. SEO builds a steady flow of enquiries from Google over time. Read more about SEO for lawyers.

What makes a good legal lead

A lead is only worth something if it can become a client. We build every campaign to bring in the matters you want and filter out the ones you don’t:

  • Targeting by practice area and location, so ads only reach the people and places you serve.
  • Forms that ask the right questions, such as the type of matter and where the person is, so you know who to call first.
  • Messages written for the person’s situation, in plain English, within the conduct rules.
  • Tracking from enquiry to signed matter. Where you can share it, we feed back which enquiries became clients, so campaigns learn to find more of them.

Follow-up is half the job

The best lead goes cold if nobody calls back. We make sure every enquiry reaches the right person at your firm with the details they need, and we’ll tell you if missed calls or slow replies are costing you matters.

Lead generation within the rules

Every ad, form and follow-up message we write respects the Australian Solicitors’ Conduct Rules: no false, misleading or deceptive claims, no promised outcomes and no “specialist” wording without accreditation. We check the current rules before any campaign goes live; for some matter types, that limits what can run. Forms collect consent to be contacted, and follow-up respects privacy and spam laws.

If you buy leads, rule 12.4.4 of the conduct rules on disclosing referral fees or benefits may apply to your firm. Check how it applies to you.

What lead generation costs

There are no packages and no price list. What you pay depends on how we work together:

  • Campaigns in your accounts: our management fee is quoted for your firm, based on scope, budget and complexity. Your ad spend is paid directly to the platforms, with no markup.
  • Buying leads: quoted for your practice area and region.

Either way, you get a clear written quote before you decide.

What our clients say

“I have no hesitation of recommending him”

Results depend on your practice area, location, budget and how quickly enquiries are followed up. We will tell you what is realistic for your firm before you spend a dollar.

How we start: four steps

  1. Getting to know you. The matters you want more of, where your clients come from and what a good matter is worth.
  2. Finding the opportunities. We look at your current marketing, your enquiry handling and the channels that suit your practice areas.
  3. Setting the course. You get a written plan: channels, budgets, tracking and what to expect.
  4. Running the campaigns. We launch and manage them on an ongoing basis, with plain-English reporting on enquiries and matters.

Why law firms choose Black Shark Digital

Andrej Mchantaf, CEO of Black Shark Digital
  • A lawyer turned marketer runs your campaigns. Andrej understands how firms take on work and where the advertising rules sit.
  • 20 years in digital advertising, mostly for big-name law firms. He founded Black Shark Digital in 2020.
  • Thousands of new clients acquired across the campaigns we’ve run.

Lead generation for lawyers: FAQs

Do you sell leads, or run campaigns for our firm?

Both. Most firms work with us on campaigns run in their own ad accounts, so every enquiry comes straight to the firm. For certain legal areas in certain regions, we can also provide leads if you would rather just buy them. Tell us your practice area and location and we’ll tell you what’s available.

Which practice areas and regions can you provide leads for?

It changes over time, so ask us. Tell us your practice areas and where you want clients, and we’ll tell you whether we can provide leads there and what it would cost.

Who owns the ad accounts?

When we run campaigns for your firm, you do. Your Google Ads, Meta and other ad accounts belong to your firm outright, and if you ever leave, you keep them with all their history and data.

Do you mark up our ad spend?

No. You pay Google, Meta and any other platform directly on your own credit card. Your ad spend never passes through us, and you can check every charge in the platform’s billing. Our fee is separate.

How much does lead generation cost?

There is no price list or package. Campaign management is quoted for your firm based on scope, budget and complexity. If you’re buying leads, we quote for the practice area and region. Either way, you get a clear written quote before you decide.

Do Facebook and Instagram ads work for law firms?

They can, for the right matters. Social ads reach people before they search, which suits some practice areas better than others. We’ll tell you honestly whether they suit yours, and we track the enquiries they bring so you can judge for yourself.

Are law firms allowed to buy leads?

Generally, yes, but the professional obligations sit with your firm. Rule 12.4.4 of the Australian Solicitors’ Conduct Rules deals with disclosing to a client when a third party receives a fee or benefit for referring them, and some practice areas have extra advertising rules. This isn’t legal advice, so check how the rules apply to your firm.

How soon will we get enquiries?

Paid campaigns can start producing enquiries once they are approved and live. They then need time and data to improve. We’ll set out what to expect in your written proposal.

What’s the difference between this and your Google Ads service?

Google Ads is one channel. Lead generation is the whole system: the right mix of search, social and organic channels, the forms that qualify enquiries and the tracking that shows which ones become clients. Read more about Google Ads for lawyers.

Practice areas we work with: We market firms across personal injury, family law, criminal law, employment law, commercial law, conveyancing, wills and estates, and superannuation and TPD claims.
